Common factors list:
- A desirable product or service
- A method of selling your product or service
- A method of obtaining payment
A Desirable Product or Service
First you need to have a product or service that somebody wants or needs. The more desirable or vital it is the better.
Someone dying of thirst in the desert is hardly likely to start negotiating the price with a drinks vendor.
If your product or service is unique or niche then you will not have any, or too much, competition but if your product is not unique or niche, then you will need to have a reason why anyone should buy from you rather than someone else also offering the same product.
Your product or service may be something that you produce or it may be that you wish to market a product that someone else produces.
- If your product or service is something that you produce and it is unique then you need to decide upon a price and you are ready to go to market.
- If your product or service is something that you produce and it is not unique then you need to decide upon a competitive price and some advantages that purchasing from you would offer the customer over the competition. These benefits might include a lower price, faster delivery, free delivery, superior quality or some other unique benefit that your competition does not offer.
- If you are going to market someone else’s product you need only to decide if you intend to do so as a reseller or as an affiliate.
- If you intend to be a reseller you will need to consider a competitive price and some advantages that purchasing from you would offer the customer over the competition.
- If you intend to sell just the latest hot products as an affiliate, you need only consider what methods you intend to use to promote the product.
A Method of Selling Your Product or Service
Aside from the time honoured way of showing people in person your offering -A website with a high ranking in the search engines is without doubt the most cost effective way to sell your product or service.
Only one small problem here..........if you look at how many websites are offering the same or similar product to the one you intend to market it will usually run to many thousands – if not millions, of websites.
Now before you throw your hands in the air and decide to go and do something else, it is worth pointing out that you can get your website high up in the free searches. It won’t be an instant process but if you are methodical and consistent you can do it yourself – or if you have the money, you can arrange for a SEO specialist to do the work for you.
Make sure that you study the websites of your competitors to see what they do and say.
Also ensure that you have a capture box to collect the name and email address of your potential customers. You will want to build a customer list, and this is usually best achieved by using email marketing software.
Getting one way links that point to your website is very important. There are various ways to do this and article writing is a one of them. There are faster methods of one way link building but it does involve a cost, however, the time it saves can make it very worthwhile.
Social bookmarking is also highly regarded by the search engines, so make a point of joining as many social bookmarking sites as you can, such as delicious, digg, StumbleUpon etc., and make regular bookmarks of your articles and any of your web pages that contain information of interest or pay a specialist to do it for you
